The newly FIP-affiliated BPA becomes the third national governing body, and the first in the Caribbean, to adopt WPR, bringing clubs, tournaments and national events across Barbados onto one rating standard.
World Padel Rating (WPR) and the Barbados Padel Association (BPA) today announced that WPR is the official rating for all BPA-sanctioned competition. Barbados joins USA Padel and the Padel Association of Canada in recognizing WPR as its country’s official padel rating, making the BPA the third national governing body to adopt the standard, and the first in the Caribbean.
The BPA is building the foundation for padel’s long-term growth in Barbados. Recognized by the Barbados National Sports Council as the national governing body for padel, and newly affiliated with the International Padel Federation (FIP), the association is focused on three priorities: growing the game, developing its players, and connecting Barbados to regional and international padel. Player ratings are a core part of that work, and WPR gives the BPA one consistent standard to build on as the sport grows on the island.
The partnership runs deeper than ratings: the BPA’s membership portal runs on WPR, so membership and rating sit in one place from day one. When membership opens, eligible individual members will receive a complimentary first year of BPA membership along with a WPR account.
For clubs and tournament organizers, the standard provides a shared way to build draws, seed players and track progression across every sanctioned event on the island.
For players, a WPR rating connects them to a padel community far bigger than one island: their rating travels with them when they compete outside Barbados, so they can find matches at the right level wherever in the world they play, and visiting players can do the same in Barbados.
