Introducing the WPR Challenge: A New Padel Competition Format Built for Every Level, With One Shot at the Pros

Padel has no shortage of tournaments. What’s been missing is a format that gives every player, not just the top-rated ones, a real shot at a trophy, a real shot at a check, and a real shot at a story they’ll be telling for weeks.

That changes with the WPR Challenge.

The WPR Challenge is a new one-day competitive format from World Padel Rating, designed to run at clubs across North America. The idea is simple but powerful: every team, at every level, competes against others at their level, with a guaranteed pathway to the main event of the night. One shot at the pros.

How It Works

Up to five divisions, capped at eight teams each, are sorted by WPR rating, from under 6 WPR per player all the way up to under 13 depending on the market. Everyone plays at their level. Every team is guaranteed at least two matches, played as two sets plus a super tiebreak. All entries are validated through the WPR system, so the under 6 division stays under 6, preventing sandbagging. No stacked draws. No surprises.

Then the night begins.

Each division winner earns the right to step on court with their partner and face two professionals in a 10-point super tiebreak. The amateur team serves every point and starts with a generous lead. Handicaps are calibrated to keep things genuinely competitive and adjust based on the level of the pros in each market. Win it, and the team walks off with $500 in cash.

Five super tiebreakers. Five division champions. One night of drama, with drinks poured at the bar and something real on the line.

Why It’s Different

Most club-level players never get a moment like this: a chance to stare down a top-rated WPR team on a real court, with a crowd watching and money on the table. The WPR Challenge is built specifically to create that moment, at every participating club, every time it runs.

The format is fast to operate and easy to enter. WPR Manager handles all registrations and rating validation. The host club runs the night. It’s designed as a high-energy evening that works for the players, the club, and everyone watching from the sideline.

The Launch

The WPR Challenge makes its debut on June 6th at Ultra Magic City in Miami, one of South Florida’s premier padel venues and the perfect stage for the first edition.
